How to leave your boring job and make a genuine impact.
Does this situation sound familiar?
Sitting in the economy section of my United Airlines flight, I was coming back home from a brief overseas adventure.
I had saved my hard earned cash, quit my soul-crushing university job at the time and went overseas to Mexico and Cuba.
I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do when I got back.
I was going to ‘figure that out’ later – sometime in the not too distant future.
Fast forward to the economy section of my United Airlines flight. Landing back in Sydney, I was still not clear about what to do next.
So, what did I do when I plummeted knee-deep back into reality?
I started applying for more boring, uninspiring jobs of course!
What really hurt was the thought of being back in a job, pretending to care about what I was doing – wearing a mask every day, so people couldn’t see how trapped and sad I felt.
The thought of living that way made me feel sick. It still does.
The reality was this…
My unfulfilling career life was never going to change. I had to stop running away from it and deal with it, head on.
“If you want something you’ve never had
You must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
A harsh realisation
I’ve always had the feeling I wanted to leave my boring job and make a genuine impact on the world.
I saw myself building my own business and doing something with my life that was out of the box. Something that would truly serve others.
To be honest, I just didn’t know what to do! I didn’t know who to turn to, or who to trust.
I was staring down the barrel of my own personal worst nightmare, which included:
- Waking up at 40 years of age, wearing a brown cardigan, chained to a computer in a grey cubicle under fluorescent lights.
- Being married to someone named Glen, who is equally as uninspired by life as I am.
- Living a non-descript Sydney suburb, in an ordinary, beige house that has me mortgaged to the eyeballs.
- Sitting in a monstrously big petrol guzzling car, running ungrateful children to soccer practice, ballet and swimming lessons.
- Having no time, money or freedom to travel EVER again.
- Looking at myself in the mirror every morning, gulping down tears, wondering to myself…
“How could I have let this happen?”
(I mean no disrespect to anyone who genuinely wants those things in life. I just need to be clear, that it’s just not me.)
I had to admit to myself that the everyday actions were leading me directly to that white-picketed hell hole, whether I cared to admit it or not.
The turning point
In March 2017, something pretty random happened.
During a lazy afternoon of cat video consumption, I saw an interesting ad on YouTube.
The ad was
I thought, ‘this is definitely some type of a scam’…
However, I have
Well, who would
It was like someone had turned on the lights.
I had NO IDEA about the tools and opportunities that were available today for people to literally build an online business and earn an income
It was then that I decided to take full responsibility for my situation – and made the decision to jump in.
I began learning the digital marketing skills and tools to be able to create a fulfilling online business, that also impacts and expands the choices of others.
I help people just like me, who no longer wish to accept a life of cubicles and brown cardigans!
So now – I’m an affiliate who promotes digital education products online!
I’m still currently working in a job at the moment, but for the first time in my life – I feel on track, with a plan to transition out of my current job.
I no longer need to jump on a plane and run away anymore. I feel hope for the future, and inspired by the new opportunities in my life! And I have met incredible people along the way.

Let me tell you – going to a job isn’t so bad when you are working towards something you believe in. I see a bright future of possibility ahead. With zero cubicles…
At the end of the day – the tools, resources and information are out there. You just need to open your eyes and your mind to the possibility of doing something different, in order to shift your results.
You also need to be willing to do the work and invest in yourself and your education.
In my case, I was so tired of tolerating a boring mediocre life and unfulfilling career, that I was ready to take the necessary steps and invest in myself. I was willing to do what it took to create real change.
If you want to leave your boring job – stop running away.
